How ranks impact you
As you file flights with the airline, you accrue hours, which qualify you to raise in rank.
Your rank has several consequences:

- Aircraft types are tied to rank – so your rank determines which aircraft you can choose
- Flights may be tied to aircraft types – so flights available to you may be restricted indirectly by your rank
- Not all flights are tied to rank
Student Pilot – 0 hours

- Qualified to fly basic trainer aircraft (check the Fleet page for more details)
Private Pilot – 15 hours

- Qualified to train and fly high performance aircraft (check the Fleet page for more details)
Commercial Pilot – 35 hours

- Qualified to train and fly Multi Engine high performance aircraft (check the Fleet page for more details)
Second Officer – 50 hours

- Qualified to fly cross country operations (100nm or less)
First Officer – 100 hours

- Qualified to fly long range operations (100nm or more)
Captain – 175 hours

- Qualified to fly and dispatch your own aircraft for operations
Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) – 250 hours

- Able to instruct and endorse pilots for private pilot operations
Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFI-I) – 300 hours

- Able to instruct and endorse pilots for instrument rated conditions
Multi-Engine Flight Instructor – 350 Hours
